February 21st 2017, Tom was a back seat passenger.  The driver had no licence, no insurance.  He was speeding, on a dangerous road with nasty bends and turns.  The weather that night was awful.  The crash investigation team estimated he drove into the bend at about 48mph, a safe speed should have been 32mph.  He lost control of the car, it spun, aqua planed into a tree and ended up down an embankment.  Tom took the full brunt of the crash when it collided into the tree.  He was killed outright.  16 broken ribs punctured his lungs and massive bleeding into the chest cavity.

The court case was on Monday 16th April, 2018.  The driver was convicted of causing death by careless driving, without insurance and a licence.  He was sentenced to two years in prison.  He is to serve 1 year in prison, the remaining year on conditional licence.  He was ordered to pay £140.00 court surcharge and disqualified from driving for 5 years.
